Aidan is a six year old young author from Fremont, California. When you read his story, notice how Aidan leaves us with a question. How do you think the ton of ginger drool got onto Patrick’s face and pillow? Go to the bottom of the article and leave a comment telling us what you think happened.
Great story Aidan. We are eager to hear more from you!
Patrick is a six year old boy. He is baking gingerbread cookies for his mom to eat. Patrick is using a recipe book and trying to do as much baking as he can do on his own. His mom is standing by watching and helping when Patrick needs it. Patrick was so excited and so full of love for his mom.
He was pouring the batter on the spreading mat and two tears of happiness fell into the cookie dough. From these two tears grew Charlie and Franky. Patrick’s mom Janet placed the cookie sheet into the oven and told Patrick that it was time for bed.
Patrick laid down and quickly fell asleep. Janet took the baked cookies out of the oven and set it on the table. Charlie and Franky could hear Patrick snoring. The kitchen was covered with candy and sweets because it was Christmas baking day.
Charlie and Franky peeled themselves off the cookie sheet and gave each other a high five. They gave one another a big huge hug. They ran off the counter and explored the kitchen. They are hungry so they eat chocolate for breakfast. Then they go and play on the gumdrop swings. Charlie runs over to the gumball bowling lanes and calls Franky to come play with him. They are so happy and having so much fun in their candy land.
They jump into a warm tub of melted bubble gum. It is too sticky to swim so they start to make gum “snowballs” and have a gumball fight. The gum pool quickly gets used up and they move on to the starburst play structure. Franky slides down the peanut butter slide and Charlie grabs a gummy worm and begs Franky to duel him. Charlie hits Franky in the face with the gummy sword and his nose falls off. They decide to put some gum on his face and attach his nose.
The boys don’t want to be eaten so they jump off the counter. Charlie spies a dog door. They run for the door. The dog chases them into Patrick’s room. Patrick wakes up and his dog is barking at the bed. Patrick is grumpy and yells at his dog. Charlie and Franky are scared.
Patrick throws his pillow at Spark. Spark whines and leaves the room. The boys hide under the bed and whisper. “Why did the dog chase us”, said Franky. Charlie said, “Because we smell like gingerbread!”
Patrick hears the talking. He dips his head to look under his bed and sees the two cookies he made that night. Patrick says, “Jump into my drawer so my mom won’t find you”. Patrick rolls over and tries to go back to sleep. Charlie and Franky climb out of the drawer and lay on Patrick’s pillow. The pillow is much softer than the drawer.
That night the three boys slept for ten hours. When they woke up there was a ton of ginger drool all over the pillow and on Patrick’s face.

Aidan! I love to write stories, too… you must be so proud to be a published author! My mom and I thought this was a such a great story. It had everything you could want in a story – action, adventure, mystery and suspense, and best of all, cookies and candy!
So, I think I know what happened to those cookies – that’s ‘cuz I’m already 5 and I’m smart
Keep up the writing – you are so good at it and I’d love to read more of your stories!
